PMP Exam extended to 31 December 2020

As you are most likely aware the PMI Project Management Professional (PMP®) exam was due to change on 1 July 2020. The new exam, when introduced, will include:

  • Domain name changes
  • 50% of the questions based on Agile and Hybrid project environments

The New

With the NEW EXAM the questions will appear under the following 3 domains:

  1. People – 42% (42 questions predictive / 20 questions agile / 22 questions hybrid)
  2. Process – 50% (50 questions predictive / 22 questions agile / 28 questions hybrid)
  3. Business Environment – 8% (8 questions predictive / 4 questions agile / 4 questions hybrid)

The Current

The CURRENT EXAM questions are covered under five domains and links to the process groups:

  1. Initiating – 13% (26 questions)
  2. Planning – 24% (48 questions)
  3. Executing – 31% (62 questions)
  4. Monitoring & Controlling – 25% (50 questions)
  5. Closing – 7% (14 questions)

As you can see from this snapshot there are drastic changes coming to the PMP® which are likely to have a serious impact on preparation efforts, and the elimination of the 5 domains (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, Closing) will make it less intuitive for the student.

The Good News

There is however GOOD NEWS if you are considering your PMP® Certification.
