PMI has launched a streamlined certification application which has been in effect since the second half of June 2020. The changes will apply to all current certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP)®. Program Management Professional (PgMP)®, Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)®, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®, PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® and PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)®.
After extensive user research PMI has improved the application experience for all candidates. The application process is now much faster. The online process has been reduced from 30 to 4 screens, and free text fields have also been reduced with the use of more drop-down type selection fields.
Total years of experience, training hours and passing the examination have not changed, but experience is now recorded only in months. That is, you no longer need to track experience by the hours spent on each of the domains as previously required. You also do not need to fill out the contact information of all your previous project references during the application process, although you may still be asked for this information if you are selected for a random audit.
