Agile Certification Journey: 2020 has brought about so much change and now more than ever project managers need the agile skills in their toolbox.

To this end, PMI has announced that it is revamping its Agile offerings with the new Agile Certification Journey , A suite of agile-focused certifications designed for practitioners who want to further specialize and differentiate their skills.

It incorporates Disciplined Agile offerings into the PMI portfolio of certifications to provide practitioners with options and opportunities to dive deeper into agile approaches, regardless of where they are in their career paths.

New Agile Certification Framework

The Agile Certification Journey’s certification framework consists of four Disciplined Agile certifications and the PMI-ACP certification:

  • Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM)
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
  • Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM)
  • Disciplined Agile Coach (DA Coach)
  • Disciplined Agile Value Stream Consultant (DAVSC)

Agile Certification Journey

What does the launch of the Agile Certification Journey mean for individuals who already have an existing Disciplined Agile certification or designation like Disciplined Agilist?

  • The Disciplined Agilist (DA) designation is being retired, and holders were given the opportunity to join PMI to be able to access DA resources.
  • The Certified Disciplined Agilist (CDA) certification is being retired and replaced with the new Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) certification. Current Certified Disciplined Agilists will automatically become Disciplined Agile Scrum Masters.
  • The Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner (CDAP) certification is being retired. Current Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioners will automatically become Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Masters (DASSM). The Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master certification will also replace the Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Master (DALSM) certification. All current Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Masters will also automatically become Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Masters.
  • The Certified Disciplined Agile Coach certification (CDAC) is being retired. Current Certified Disciplined Agile Coaches will have the opportunity to migrate to the new Disciplined Agile Coach (DA Coach) certification.
  • The Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor certification (CDAI) is being retired. Current Certified Disciplined Agile Instructors will automatically be accepted into the Authorized Training Partner programme as certified instructors that are approved to teach Disciplined Agile training workshops. Those who wish to become certified to teach Disciplined Agile training workshops will now need to be certified in the class they want to teach and complete a one-day instructor class, in addition to having at least their Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master certification.
