Being Change Literate and the Importance of Project Management

Change Literate

In the latter half of the 18th century we had the 1st#industrialrevolution driven by mechanisation and steam power. This was followed in the latter part of the 19th century by the 2nd industrial revolution brought about by mass production and new forms of power including electricity, gas and oil. In the second part of the 20th century we witnessed the 3rd industrial revolution with the emergence of electronics, telecommunications and of course computers, as well as the advent of nuclear energy. Now, at the start of the 21st century, we find ourselves in the 4th industrial revolution led by big data, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and AR (Augmented Reality). 4IR is disrupting every industry in every country. This disruption comes with uncertainty and exponential #change. Both organisations and individuals need to be change literate in order to stay relevant. We must become disruptors or risk being disrupted. #BusinessAgility and #PersonalAdaptability are required to make the most of the #opportunities presented by 4IR.

This need to constantly adapt has brought on the advent of the #ProjectEconomy where organisations deliver value through successful completion of #projects. This way of work requires skills that are uniquely associated with the inevitable and constant change to produce a positive impact and successfully navigate this new world of work.

From a business perspective, projects drive an organisation from the current state to a future state in order to achieve its objectives. Projects therefore drive this change and enable business value creation. As individuals we need to ensure that we have the skills and capabilities to positively contribute to this Project Economy. Enter the #ProjectManager!

It is therefore imperative that #ProjectManagement be embraced and considered a strategic competency for any organisation or individual. Failing to adopt project management skills could lead to an organisation or individual becoming obsolete.

We need to be change literate! We need to develop a mindset of continuous learning and professional development where we continuously learn new skills. Contact ProjectPro to partner with you, and set you on the path to realising your full potential in this constantly changing world.
