Construction Project Management (CPM)

The 3-day Construction Project Management (CPM) training course covers the principles, processes, tools and techniques of project management in an engineering and construction context. The Construction Project Management course is validated by the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) for 15 CPD hours. CPD activity No: SACPCMP/CPD/12/023/RV

The Project and Construction Project Management Professions Act 48 of 2000 requires persons who manage projects within the Built Environment from conception to completion, including management of related professional services, to be registered with the SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Project Manager (PrCPM). The Built Environment includes all structures that are planned and/or erected above or underground, as well as the land utilised for the purpose and supporting infrastructure.

The CPM course has two aims:

      To prepare construction project managers to apply for and pass the SACPCMP Professional Interview.

      To gain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits required by SACPCMP to retain the PrCPM status.

This course is based on:

      The SACPCMP identification of work and scope of services for Construction Project Managers.

      ISO 21500 : Guidance on Project Management

      The internationally recognised Project Management Body Of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and its Construction Extension published by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). It has been adapted to the South African built environment and covers the entire project life cycle from the Initial Briefing Phase, Concept Phase, Design Phase, Procurement Phase, Construction Phase and Close-out Phase.

Attending the CPM course will provide knowledge and skills to establish a solid framework for consistently managing successful projects by drawing up a comprehensive Project Management Plan covering the following topics:
