“Scheduling, Budgeting and Controlling Your Project”

The Skills Programme No. 2 (SP2) can also be held in-house at client venues throughout South Africa for a minimum of 10 learners on dates to suit the learners.

This Three-day skills programme contributes 18 credits towards the Further Education and Training Certificate: Project Management at NQF Level 4.

This programme includes guidance in preparing a Portfolio of Evidence and summative assessment of the learner’s competence. A Certificate of Competence is awarded after each skills programme.

ProjectPro Management Services is an accredited training provider with SAQA / Services Seta (097/04/02/03), Project Management South Africa and the Association of SA Quantity Surveyors.

Fee includes manual, Learner Guide, formative and summative assessments, a certificate on being assessed as competent, refreshments and lunches.

Who should attend?

Project schedulers, planners, co-ordinators, and project administrators. New entrants to the work or project management environments will benefit from this programme, as will project management personnel who have never had any formal training, as well as learners from other professions who have identified a need to apply project management methods to their work or environment.

At the end of this skills programme the qualifying learner will be capable of:

  • Identifying, explaining and describing the purpose and process of scheduling project activities.
  • Defining and gathering project activities from technical experts and within own field expertise.
  • Developing a simple schedule for a project or part thereof.
  • Describing and explaining a range of project schedule control processes and techniques.
  • Monitoring actual project work versus planned work (baseline).
  • Recording and communicating schedule changes.
  • Identifying elements and resources to be costed through interpreting the project scope statement, work breakdown structure and other project data.
  • Participating in the preparation and production of a cost budget.
  • Contributing to the monitoring and controlling of cost budget performance by maintaining records and communicating.

Skills Programme 2 - “Scheduling, Budgeting and Controlling Your Project”  includes summative assessments of the following three unit standards and nine specific outcomes:

SAQA ID 120384: Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution (8 credits)

Specific Outcome 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose and process of scheduling project activities.

Specific Outcome 2. Define and gather information about project activities from technical (subject matter) experts and within own field of expertise.

Specific Outcome 3. Develop a simple schedule for a project or part thereof.

SAQA ID 120387: Monitor, evaluate and communicate simple project schedules (4 credits)

Specific Outcome 1. Describe and explain a range of project schedule control processes and techniques.

Specific Outcome 2. Monitor actual project work versus planned work (baseline).

Specific Outcome 3. Record and communicate schedule changes.

SAQA ID 120375: Participate in the estimation and preparation of cost budget for a project or sub project and monitor and control actual cost against budget (6 credits)

Specific Outcome 1. Identify elements and resources to be costed through interpreting the project scope statement, work breakdown structure and other project data.

Specific Outcome 2. Participate in the preparation and production of a cost budget.

Specific Outcome 3. Contribute to the monitoring and controlling of cost budget performance by maintaining records and communicating.
